VVhosoever beleveh that Iesus is Christ/ is borne of god. And every one yt loveth him which begat/ loveth him also which was begottē of him. VVhosoeuer beleueth that Iesus is Christ/ is borne of God. And euery one that loueth him which begat/ loveth him also which was begotten of him. WHo so euer beleueth that Iesus is Christ, is borne of God. And who soeuer loueth him that begat, loueth him also which was begotten of him.
5:2 In this we knowe that we love the children of god/ whē we love god/ and kepe his cōmaūdemētſ. In this we knowe yt we love the children of god/ whē we love god/ & kepe his cōmaūdementſ. In this we knowe that we loue the chyldren of God/ when we loue God/ and kepe his commaundementes. By this we knowe that we loue Gods children, whan we loue God, and kepe his commaundementes.
5:3 This is the love of god/ that we kepe his cōmaundementſ/ and his cōmaundementſ are not greveous. This is ye love of god/ yt we kepe his cōmaundemētes/ & his cōmaundementes are not greveous This is the loue of God/ that we kepe his commaundementes/ & his commaundementes are not greueous. For this is the loue of God, that we kepe his commaundementes, and his commaundemētes are not greuous.
5:4 For all that is borne of god/ over cōmeth the worlde. ād this is the victory that over cōmeth the worlde/ evē oure fayth. For all that is borne of god/ over commeth the worlde. And this is the victory that over cōmeth the worlde/ even oure fayth. For all that is borne of God/ ouer cōmeth the worlde. And this is the victory that ouer commeth the worlde/ euen oure fayth. For all that is borne of God, ouercommeth the worlde: and this is the victory that ouercommeth the worlde, euē oure faith.
5:5 who is it that over cōmeth the worlde: but he which beleveth that Iesus is the sonne of god? Who is it that overcommeth the worlde: but he which beleveth that Iesus is ye sonne of god? Who is it that ouercommeth the worlde: but he which beleueth that Iesus is the sonne of God? Who is it yt ouercommeth the worlde, but he which beleueth that Iesus is the sonne of God?
5:6 This Iesus Christ is he that cā by water and bloud/ not by water only: but by water and bloud. And it is the sprete that beareth witnes/ be cause the sprete ys trueth. This Iesus Christ is he that cā by water and bloud/ not by water only: but by water & bloud. And it is the sprete that beareth witnes/ because the sprete ys trueth. This Iesus Christ is he that cam by water and bloud/ not by water only: but by water and bloud. And it is the sprete that beareth witnes/ because the sprete is trueth. This is he that cōmeth with water and bloude, euen Iesus Christ: not with water onely, but with water and bloude. And it is the sprete that beareth wytnes: for the sprete is the trueth.
5:7 For there are thre whych beare recorde in heven/ the father/ the worde/ and the wholy goost. And these thre are one. (For ther are thre which beare recorde in heuen/ the father/ the worde/ and the wholy goost. And these thre are one) (For ther are thre which beare recorde in heauen/ the father/ the worde/ and the wholy goost. And these thre are one) (For there are thre which beare recorde in heauen: the father, the worde, and the holy goost, & these thre are one.)
5:8 And there are thre which beare recorde in erth: the sprete/ and water/ and bloud: and these thre are one. For there are thre which beare recorde (in erth:) the sprete/ & water/ and bloud: and these thre are one. For there are thre which beare recorde (in erth:) the sprete/ and water/ and bloud: and these thre are one. And there are thre which beare recorde in earth: the sprete, water and bloude, and these thre are one.
5:9 Yf we receave the witnes of mē/ the witnes of god is gretter. For this is the witnes of god/ which he testifyed of his sōne. Yf we receave the witnes of men/ the witnes of god is greater. For this is the witnes of god/ which he testifyed of his sonne. Yf we receaue the witnes of men/ the witnes of God is greater. For this is the witnes of God/ which he testified of his sonne. Yf we receaue the witnesse of men, the witnesse of God is greater: for this is the wytnesse of God, which he testifyed of his sonne.
5:10 He that beleveth on the sonne of god hath the witnes in hym silfe. He that beleveth nott God/ hath made hym a lyare/ be cause he beleved nott the recorde that god gave of his sonne. He that beleveth on the sonne of god/ hath the witnes in him silfe. He that beleveth not God/ hath made him a lyar/ be cause he beleved not the recorde that god gave of his sonne. He that beleueth on the sonne of God/ hath the witnes in him selfe. He that beleueth not God/ hath made him a lyar/ because he beleued not the recorde that God gaue of his sonne. He that beleueth on ye sonne of God, hath the wytnes in him selfe. He that beleueth not God, hath made him a lyar.
5:11 And this ys that recorde/ howe that god hath gevē vnto vs eternall lyfe/ and this lyfe is in his sonne. And this ys that recorde/ how that god hath geven vnto vs eternall lyfe and this lyfe is in his sonne. And this is that recorde/ how that God hath geuen vnto vs eternall lyfe/ and this lyfe is in his sonne. And this is that recorde, euen yt God hath geuē vs euerlastinge life. And this life is in his sonne.
5:12 He that hath the sonne/ hath lyfe: and he that hath not the sonne of god/ hath not lyfe. He that hath the sonne/ hath lyfe: and he that hath not the sonne of god/ hath not lyfe. He that hath the sonne/ hath lyfe: and he that hath not the sonne of God/ hath not lyfe. He that hath the sonne of God, hath life: He that hath not the sonne of God, hath not life.
5:13 These thyngſ have I written vnto you that beleve on the name of the sonne off God/ that ye maye knowe howe that ye have eternall lyfe/ ād that ye maye beleve on the name of the sonne off god. These thynges have I written vnto you that beleve on the name of the sonne of God/ that ye maye knowe howe that ye have eternall lyfe/ and that ye maye beleve on the name of the sonne of god. These thinges haue I written vnto you that beleue on the name of the sonne of God/ that ye maye knowe howe that ye haue eternall lyfe/ and that ye maye beleue on the name of the sonne of God. These thinges haue I wryttē vnto you, which beleue on the name of the sonne of God, that ye maye knowe, how that ye haue eternall life, and that ye maye beleue on ye name of the sonne of God.
5:14 And this is the trust that we have in hym: that yf we axe eny thynge accordynge to his will he heareth vs. And this is the trust that we have in him: that yf we axe eny thinge accordynge to his will he heareth vs. And this is the trust that we haue in him: that yf we axe eny thinge accordynge to his will/ he heareth vs. And this is the fre boldnesse which we haue towarde him, that yf we axe eny thinge acordinge to his wyll, he heareth vs.
5:15 And yff we knowe that he heare vs whatt soever we axe/ we knowe thatt we shall have the peticions that we desyred of hym And yf we knowe that he heare vs what soever we axe/ we knowe that we shall have the peticions that we desyre of him. And yf we knowe that he heare vs whatsoeuer we axe/ we knowe that we shall haue the peticions that we desyre of him. And yf we knowe that he heareth vs what so euer we axe, then are we sure that we haue ye peticions, which we haue desyred of him.
5:16 Yff eny man se his brother synne a synne that is not vnto deeth/ let hym axe/ and he shall geve hym lyfe for them that synne not vnto deeth. There is a synne vnto deeth/ for which saye I not that a man shulde praye. Yf eny man se his brother synne a synne that is not vnto deeth/ let him axe/ and he shall geve him lyfe for them that synne not vnto deeth. Ther is a synne vnto deeth/ for which saye I not that a man shuld praye. Yf eny man se his brother synne a synne that is not vnto deeth/ let him axe/ & he shall geue him lyfe for them that synne not vnto deeth. Ther is a synne vnto deeth/ for which saye I not that a man shuld praye. Yf eny man se his brother synne a synne not vnto death, let him axe, and he shal geue him life, for thē yt synne not vnto death. There is a synne vnto death, for the which saye I not that a man shulde praye.
5:17 All vnrightewesnes is synne/ and there is synne not vnto deeth. All vnrightewesnes is synne/ and ther is synne not vnto deeth. All vnryghtewesnes is synne/ and ther is synne not vnto deeth. All vnrighteousnes is synne, and there is synne not vnto death.
5:18 We knowe that whosoever is borne of God/ synneth not: but he that is begotten of god kepeth hym silfe/ and that wicked toucheth hym not. We knowe that whosoever is borne of god/ synneth not: but he that is begotten of god kepeth him silfe/ and that wicked toucheth him not. We knowe that whosoeuer is borne of God/ synneth not: but he that is begotten of God kepeth him selfe/ and that wicked toucheth him not. We knowe, that whosoeuer is borne off God, synneth not: but he that is begottē of God, kepeth himselfe, & yt wicked toucheth him not.
5:19 We knowe that we are of god/ and that the worlde is altogedder set on wickednes. We knowe that we are of god/ and that the worlde is altogedder set on wickednes. We knowe that we are of God/ and that the worlde is all to gether set on wickednes. We knowe that we are of God, & the worlde is set alltogether on wickednes.
5:20 We knowe that the sonne of God is come/ and hath geven vs a mynde to knowe hym which is true: and we are in hym that is true/ through his sōne Iesu Christ. This same is very god/ and eternall lyfe. We knowe that the sonne of God is come/ & hath geven vs a mynde to knowe him which is true: and we are in him that is true/ through his sonne Iesu Christ. This same is very god/ and eternall lyfe. We knowe that the sonne of God is come/ and hath geuen vs a mynde to knowe him which is true: and we are in him that is true/ through his sonne Iesu Christ. This same is very God/ and eternall lyfe. But we knowe, that the sonne of God is come, and hath geuen vs a mynde, to knowe him which is true: and we are in him yt is true, in his sonne Iesu Christ. This is the true God, and euer lastinge life.
5:21 Babes kepe youre selves frō ymages. Amen. Babes kepe youre selves from ymages. Amen. Babes kepe youre selues from ymages. AMEN. Babes kepe youre selues from ymages. Amen.

1 John: Chapter 04

1John
Tyndale (1526)
Tyndale (1534)
Tyndale (1535)
Coverdale (1535)
4:1 DErely beloved beleve not every sprete: but prove the spretes whether they are of god/ or no: for many falce prophetſ are gone out into the worlde. YE beloved/ beleve not every sprete: but prove the spretes whether they are of God or no: for many falce Prophetes are gone out into the worlde. YE beloued/ beleue not euery sprete: but proue the spretes whether they are of God or not for many false Prophetes are gone out into the worlde. DEarly beleued, beleue not ye euery sprete, but proue the spretes, whether they be of God. For many false prophetes are gone out in to the worlde.
4:2 Herby shall ye knowe the sprete off god. Eevery sprete that cōfesseth that Iesus Christ is come ī the flesshe/ is of god. Herby shall ye knowe the sprete of God. Every sprete that confesseth that Iesus Christ is come in the flesshe is of God. Herby shall ye knowe the sprete of God. Euery sprete that confesseth that Iesus Christ is come in the flesshe/ is of God. Hereby shal ye knowe the sprete of God: Euery sprete which confesseth, that Iesus Christ is come in the flesh, is of God:
4:3 And every sprete which confesseth not that Iesus Christ is come in the flesshe/ is not off god. And this is that sprete of Antichrist/ of whom ye have herde/ howe that he shulde come: and even nowe alredy is he in the worlde. And every sprete which cōfesseth not yt Iesus Christ is come in the flesshe/ is not of God. And this is that sprete of Antichrist/ of whom ye have hearde/ howe that he shuld come: and even now alredy is he in the worlde. And euery sprete which confesseth not that Iesus Christ is come in the flesshe/ is not of God. And this is that sprete of Antichrist/ of whom ye haue hearde/ howe that he shuld come: and euen now alredy is he in the worlde. And euery sprete which confesseth not that Iesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not off God. And this is that sprete of Antechrist, off whom ye haue herde, how that he shal come, and euen now allready is he in the worlde.
4:4 Lytell childrē/ ye are of god/ ād have overcome them: for gretter is he that is in you/ then he that is in the worlde. Lytell chyldrē/ ye are of God/ & have overcome them: for greater is he yt is in you/ then he that is in the worlde. Lytell chyldren/ ye are of God and haue ouercome them: for greater is he that is in you/ then he that is in the worlde. Litle children, ye are off God, and haue ouercome them: for greater is he that is in you, then he that is in the worlde.
4:5 They are of the worlde/ therfore speake they of the worlde/ and the worlde heareth them. They are of the worlde/ & therfore speake they of the worlde/ & the worlde heareth them. They are of the worlde/ and therfore speake they of the worlde/ and the worlde heareth them. They are off the worlde, therfore speake they off the worlde, and the worlde herkeneth vnto them.
4:6 We are of god. He that knoweth god heareth vs: He that is nott off God/ heareth vs not. Herby knowe we the sprete of veritie/ ād the sprete of erroure. We are of God. He yt knoweth God/ heareth vs: he that is not of God/ heareth vs not. Herby knowe we ye sprete of veritie/ & the sprete of erroure. We are of God. He that knoweth God/ heareth vs: he that is not of God/ heareth vs not. Herby knowe we the sprete of veritie/ & the sprete of erroure. We are of God, and he that knoweth God, herkeneth vnto vs: he that is not of God, heareth vs not. Here by knowe we the sprete of trueth, and ye sprete of erroure.
4:7 Derely beloved/ lett vs love one another: for love cōmeth of god. And every one that loveth is borne of god/ and knoweth god. Beloved/ let vs love one another: for love cōmeth of God. And every one that loveth/ is borne of God/ and knoweth God. Beloued/ let vs loue one another: for loue commeth of God. And euery one that loueth/ is borne of God/ and knoweth God. Dearly beloued, let vs loue one another, for loue commeth of God. And euery one yt loueth, is borne of God, and knoweth God.
4:8 He that loveth nott/ hath nott knowen god: for god is love. He that loveth not/ knoweth not God: for God is love. He that loueth not/ knoweth not God: for God is loue. He that loueth not, knoweth not God: for God is loue.
4:9 In this apered the love of god to vs ward/ because that god sēt his only begottē sōne īto the worlde/ that we myght live thorowe hī. In this appered ye love of god to vs ward because that god sent his only begotten sonne into the worlde/ that we myght live thorow him. In this appered the loue of God to vs ward/ because that God sent his only begotten sonne into the worlde/ that we myght lyue thorow him. By this appeared the loue of God to vs warde, because that God sent his onely begotten sonne in to this worlde, that we mighte lyue thorow him.
4:10 Herī is love/ not that we loved god/ but that he loved vs/ ād sent his sonne to make agrement for oure sinnes. Herin is love/ not that we loved god/ but that he loved vs/ and sent his sonne to make agrement for oure sinnes. Herin is loue/ not that we loued God but that he loued vs and sent his sonne to make agrement for oure synnes. Herein is loue, not that we loued God, but that he loued vs, and sent his sonne to make agremēt for oure synnes.
4:11 Derely beloved yf god so loved vs/ we ought also to love one another. Beloved/ yf god so loved vs/ we ought also to love one another. Beloued/ yf God so loued vs/ we ought also to loue one another. Dearly beloued, yf God so loued vs, we oughte also to loue one another.
4:12 no mā hath sene god at eny tyme. Yf we love one another/ god dwelleth in vs/ and his love is parfet in vs. No man hath sene god at enytyme. Yf we love one another/ god dwelleth in vs/ and his love is parfect in vs. No man hath sene God at eny tyme. Yf we loue one another/ God dwelleth in vs/ and his loue is parfect in vs. No man hath sene God at eny tyme. Yf we loue one another, God dwelleth in vs, and his loue is perfecte in vs.
4:13 Herby knowe we/ that we dwell in hym/ and he in vs: be cause he hath geven vs of his sprete. Herby know we/ that we dwell in him/ and he in vs: because he hath geven vs of his sprete. Herby know we/ that we dwell in him/ and he in vs: because he hath geuen vs of his sprete. Hereby knowe we that we dwell in him, and he in vs, because he hath geuen vs of his sprete.
4:14 And we have sene and do testifie that the father sent the sonne/ which is the saveour of the worlde. And we have sene and do testifie that the father sent the sonne/ which is the saveour of the worlde. And we haue sene and do testifie that the father sent the sonne/ which is the saueour of the worlde. And we haue sene, & testifye that the father sent the sonne to be the Sauioure of the worlde.
4:15 Whosoever cōfesseth that Iesus is the sonne of god/ in hym dwelleth god/ and he in god. Whosoever confesseth that Iesus is the sonne of god/ in him dwelleth god/ and he in god. Whosoeuer confesseth that Iesus is the sonne of God/ in him dwelleth God/ and he in God. Whosoeuer now confesseth yt Iesus is the sonne of God in him dwelleth God, and he in God:
4:16 And we have knowen and beleved the love that god hath to vs. God is love/ and he that dwelleth ī love dwelleth in god/ and god in hym. And we have knowen and beleved the love that god hath to vs. God is love/ and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in god/ and god in him. And we haue knowen and beleued the loue that God hath to vs. God is loue/ and he that dwelleth in loue/ dwelleth in God/ and God in him. and we haue knowne and beleued the loue that God hath to vs. God is loue, and he that dwelleth in loue dwelleth in God, and God in him.
4:17 Herin is the love parfet in vs/ thatt we shulde have trust in the daye of iudgement/ that as he is/ even so are we in this worlde. Herin is the love perfect in vs/ that we shuld have trust in the daye of iudgement: For as he is/ even so are we in this worlde. Herin is the loue perfect in vs/ that we shuld haue trust in the daye of iudgement: For as he is/ euen so are we in this worlde. Here in is the loue perfecte with vs, that we shulde haue a fre boldnesse in the daye of iudgment: for as he is, euē so are we in this worlde.
4:18 There is no feare ī love/ but parfet love casteth out all feare/ for feare hath paynfulnes. He that feareth is not parfet in love. Ther is no feare in love/ but parfect love casteth out all feare/ for feare hath paynfulnes. He yt feareth/ is not parfect in love. Ther is no feare in loue/ but parfect loue casteth out all feare/ for feare hath paynfulnes. He that feareth/ is not parfect in loue. Feare is not in loue, but perfecte loue casteth out feare: for feare hath paynefulnes. He that feareth, is not perfecte in loue.
4:19 We love hym/ for he loved vs fyrst. We love him/ for he loved vs fyrst. We loue him/ for he loued vs fyrst. Let vs loue him, for he loued vs first.
4:20 Yf a mā saye/ I love god/ and yet hateth his brother/ he is a lyar. Howe can he that loveth nott his brother whom he hath sene/ love god whom he hath not sene? Yf a man saye/ I love god/ and yet hate his brother he is a lyar. For how can he yt loveth not his brother whom he hath sene/ love god whom he hath not sene? Yf a man saye/ I loue God/ and yet hate is brother he is a lyar. For how can he that loueth not his brother whom he hath sene/ loue God whom he hath not sene? Yf eny man saye: I loue God, & yet hateth his brother, he is a lyar. For he that loueth not his brother whom he seyth, how can he loue God, whom he seyth not?
4:21 And this cōmaundemēt have we of hym: that he which loveth God/ shulde love his brother also. And this commaundemēt have we of him: that he which loveth God/ shuld love his brother also. And this commaundement haue we of him: that he which loueth God/ shuld loue his brother also. And this cōmaundement haue we of him, that he which loueth God, shulde loue his brother also.

3:1 BEholde what love the father hath shewed on vs/ that we shulde be called the sōnes of god. For this cause the worlde knoweth you not be cause it hath not knowen hī. BEholde what love the father hath shewed on vs that we shuld be called the sonnes of god. For this cause the worlde knoweth you not because it knoweth not him. BEholde what loue the father hath shewed on vs that we shuld be called the sonnes of God. For this cause the worlde knoweth you not/ because it knoweth not him. BEholde what loue the father hath shewed on vs, yt we shulde be called the childrē of God. Therfore ye worlde knoweth you not, because it knoweth not him.
3:2 Derely beloved/ nowe are we the sonnes of god/ ād yet it hath not apered what we shalbe. but we knowe that whē it shall apere/ we shalbe lyke hym. For we shall se hym as he is. Derely beloved/ now are we ye sonnes of God/ & yet it dothe not appere what we shalbe. But we knowe that when it shall appere/ we shalbe lyke him. For we shall se him as he is. Derely beloued/ now are we the sonnes of God/ and yet it doth not appere what we shalbe. But we knowe that when it shall appere/ we shalbe lyke him. For we shall se him as he is. Dearly beloued, we are now ye childrē of God, and yet hath it not appeared what we shalbe. But we knowe yt when he shal appeare, we shal be like him: for we shal se him as he is.
3:3 And every man that hath thys hope in hym/ pourgeth hym silfe/ even as he ys pure. And every man that hath thys hope in him pourgeth him silfe/ even as he ys pure. And euery man that hath this hope in him/ pourgeth him selfe/ euen as he is pure. And euery man yt hath this hope in him, pourgeth him selfe, euen as he is pure.
3:4 Whosoever cōmitteth synne/ committeth vnrightewesnes also/ ād synne is vnrightewesnes. Whosover committeth synne/ committeth vnrighteousnes also/ for synne is vnrighteousnes. Whosoeuer committeth synne/ committeth vnryghteousnes also/ for synne is vnryghteousnes. Who so euer cōmytteth synne, cōmytteth vnrighteousnes also, and synne is vnrighteousnes.
3:5 and ye knowe that he apered to take awaye oure synnes/ and in hī is no synne. And ye knowe that he appered to take awaye oure synnes/ and in him is no synne. And ye knowe that he appered to take awaye oure synnes/ & in him is no synne. And ye knowe that he appeared to take awaye oure synnes: and in him is no synne.
3:6 As many as byde in hym/ synne not: whosoever synneth hath not sene hym/ nether hath knowen him. As many as byde in him synne not: whosoever synneth hath not sene him/ nether hath knowen him. As many as byde in him/ synne not: whosoeuer synneth/ hath not sene him/ nether hath knowē him Who so euer abydeth in him, synneth not: who soeuer synneth, hath not sene him nether knowne him.
3:7 Babes let no mā deceave you/ He that doeth rightewesnes is righteous/ evē as he is righteous. Babes let no man deceave you/ He that doeth righteousnes/ is righteous/ even as he is righteous. Babes/ let no man deceaue you. He that doeth ryghteousnes/ is ryghteous/ euen as he is ryghteous. Babes, let noman disceaue you. He that doeth righteousnes, is righteous, euen as he is righteous.
3:8 He that cōmitteth sīne is of the devill: for the devyll synneth sēce the begynnīge. For this purpose apered the sōne of god/ to lowse the workes of the devill. He that cōmitteth synne/ is of the devill: for the devyll synneth sence the begynnynge. For this purpose appered the sonne of god/ to lowse the workes of the devill. He that committeth synne/ is of the deuyll: for the deuyll synneth sence the beginnynge. For this purpose appered the sonne of God/ to lowse the workes of the deuyll. He that commytteth synne, is of the deuell: for the deuell synneth sence ye begynnynge. For this purpose appeared the sonne of God, to lowse the workes of the deuell.
3:9 whosoever is borne of god/ sinneth not: for his seede remayneth in hym/ and he cannot sinne/ be cause he is borne of god. Whosoever is borne of god/ sinneth not: for his seed remayneth in him and he cannot sinne/ because he is borne of god. Whosoeuer is borne of God/ synneth not: for his seed remayneth in him/ and he cannot synne/ because he is borne of God. Who so euer is borne of God, synneth not: for his sede remayneth in him, & he cā not synne, because he is borne of God.
3:10 In this are the children of god knowen/ and the childrē of the devill. whosoever doeth not rightewesnes/ is not of god/ nether he that loveth not his brother In this are the children of god knowen/ and the children of the devyll. Whosoever doeth not rightewesnes/ is not of God/ nether he that loveth not his brother. In this are the chyldren of God knowen/ and the chyldren of the deuyll. Whosoeuer doeth not ryghtewesnes/ is not of God/ nether he that loueth not his brother. By this are the children of God knowne & the children of the deuell. Who so euer doeth not righteousnes, is not of God, nether he thath loueth not his brother.
3:11 For this is the tydīgſ/ that ye herde frō the begynnynge/ that ye shulde love one another: For this is the tydinges/ that ye hearde frō the begynninge/ that we shuld love one another: For this is the tydynges/ that ye hearde from the beginnynge/ that ye shuld loue one another For this is the tydinges which ye haue herde from the begynnynge, that ye shulde loue one another,
3:12 not as Cayn which was of the wicked and slewe hys brother. And wherfore slewe he hī? be cause hys awne workſ were evyll/ ād his brothers goode. not as Cayn which was of the wicked and slewe his brother. And wherfore slewe he him? Because his awne workes were evyll/ & his brothers good. not as Cayn which was of the wicked & slewe his brother. And wherfore slewe he him? Because his awne workes were euyll/ & his brothers good. not as Cain, which was of the wicked, and slewe his brother. And wherfore slewe he him? euen because his awne workes were euell, and his brothers righteous.
3:13 Marveyle nott my brethren yff the worlde hate you. Marvayle not my brethren though the worlde hate you. Maruayle not my brethren though the worlde hate you. Maruayle not (my brethren) though the worlde hate you.
3:14 We knowe that we are translated frō deeth vnto lyfe/ be cause we love the brothren. He that loveth not his brother/ abydeth in deeth. We knowe that we are translated from deeth vnto lyfe/ be cause we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother/ abydeth in deeth. We knowe that we are translated from deeth vnto lyfe/ because we loue the brethren. He that loueth not his brother/ abydeth in deeth. We knowe yt we are trāslated from death vnto life, because we loue the brethren. He that loueth not his brother, abydeth in death.
3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother/ is a man slear. And ye knowe thatt no man slear/ hath eternall lyfe abydynge in hym. Whosoever hateth his brother/ is a man slear. And ye knowe that no man slear/ hath eternall lyfe abydinge in him. Whosoeuer hateth his brother/ is a man slear. And ye knowe that no man slear/ hath eternall lyfe abydynge in him. Who soeuer hateth his brother, is a mansleyer. And ye knowe that a mansleyer hath not eternall life abydinge in him.
3:16 Hereby perceave we love: for he gave his lyfe for vs: And we ought also to geve oure lives for oure brethrē. Herby perceave we love: that he gave his lyfe for vs: and therfore ought we also to geve oure lyves for the brethrē. Herby perceaue we loue: that he gaue his lyfe for vs: and therfore ought we also to geue oure lyues for the brethren. Hereby haue we perceaued loue, that he gaue his life for vs, and therfore ought we also to geue oure lyues for the brethrē.
3:17 Whosoever hath this worldes goode and seyth his brother in necessitie/ ād shetteth vppe his compassion from hī: howe dwelleth the love of god in hī? Whosoever hath this worldes good & seith his brother have neade: & shutteth vp his cōpassion from him: how dwelleth the love of God in him? Whosoeuer hath this worldes good and seith his brother haue neade: and shutteth vp his compassion from him: how dwelleth the loue of God in him? But he yt hath this worldes good, & seyth his brother haue nede, and shutteth vp his hert frō him, how dwelleth the loue of God in him?
3:18 My babes/ let vs not love in worde/ nether in tonge: but with dede/ and in veritie. My babes/ let vs not love in worde/ nether in tonge: but with dede and in veritie: My babes let vs not loue in worde/ nether in tonge: but with the dede and in veritie: My litle children, let vs not loue with worde nether with tonge, but with ye dede, and with the trueth.
3:19 And herby we knowe that we are off the veritie/ and will before hym put oure hertes out of dout: for therby we knowe that we are of the veritie/ and can before him quiet oure hertes. for therby we knowe that we are of the veritie/ and can before him quiet oure hertes. Hereby knowe we, that we are of the verite, and can quyete oure hertes before him.
3:20 For (yf oure hertes condempne vs) god is gretter thē oure hertes/ ād knoweth all thīgſ. But yf oure hertes condempne vs/ God is gretter then oure hertes/ and knoweth all thinges. But yf oure hertes condempne vs/ God is gretter then oure hertes/ and knoweth all thinges. But yf oure hert condemne vs, God is greater thē oure hert, and knoweth all thinges.
3:21 Tenderly beloved/ yf oure hertes cōdempne vs not/ then have we trust to god warde: Beloved/ yf oure hertes condempne vs not/ then have we trust to god warde: Beloued/ yf oure hertes condempne vs not/ then haue we trust to God warde: Dearly beloued, yf oure hert condemne vs not, then haue we a fre boldnes to God warde.
3:22 ād whatsoever we axe/ we shall receave of hym: be cause we kepe his cōmaundementſ/ and do those thyngſ which are pleasynge in his sight. and what soever we axe/ we shall receave of him: be cause we kepe his commaundementes/ and do those thinges which are pleasinge in his sight. and whatsoeuer we axe/ we shall receaue of him: because we kepe his commaundementes/ & do those thinges which are pleasynge in his syght. And what so euer we axe, we shal receaue it: because we kepe his cōmaundemētes, and do those thinges, which are pleasaunt in his sighte.
3:23 And this is his cōmaūdment/ that we beleve on the name of his sōne Iesus Christ/ ād love one another/ as he gave cōmaundement. And this is his cōmaundemēt/ that we beleve on ye name of his sonne Iesus Christ/ & love one another/ as he gave cōmaundemēt. And this is his cōmaundement/ that we beleue on the name of his sonne Iesus Christ/ & loue one another/ as he gaue cōmaundement. 2:1 MY lytell children/ these thīgſ write I vnto you/ that ye shulde not sinne: ād yf eny mā synne/ yet we have an advocate with the father/ Iesus Christ/ which is righteous: MY lytell children/ these thynges write I vnto you/ that ye synne not: yf eny man synne/ yet we have an advocate with ye father/ Iesus Christ/ which is righteous: MY lytell chyldren/ these thinges write I vnto you/ that ye synne not: yf eny man synne/ yet we haue an aduocate with the father/ Iesus Christ/ which is righteous: MY litle children, these thinges wryte I vnto you, that ye shulde not synne: and yf eny man synne, we haue an aduocate with the father, euen Iesus Christ which is righteous:
2:2 ād he itt is that obteyneth grace for oure synnes: not for oure sinnes only: but also for the sinnes of all the worlde. & he it is that obteyneth grace for oure synnes: not for oure synnes only: but also for the synnes of all the worlde. & he it is that obteyneth grace for oure synnes: not for youre synnes only: but also for the synnes of all the worlde. and he it is that optayneth grace for oure synnes: not for oure synnes onely, but also for the synnes of all the worlde.
2:3 And herby we knowe that we have knowen hī/ yf we kepe his cōmaundemētſ. And herby we are sure that we knowe him/ yf we kepe his cōmaundementes. And herby we are sure that we knowe him/ yf we kepe his cōmaundemētes. And hereby are we sure that we knowe him, yf we kepe his cōmaundemētes.
2:4 He that sayth I knowe hym/ and kepeth nott his cōmaundementſ is a lyar/ and the veritie is not in hī. He that sayth I knowe him/ and kepeth not his commaundementes is a lyar/ & the veritie is not in him. He that sayth I knowe him/ & kepeth not his cōmaundemētes is a lyar/ & the veritie is not in him. He that sayeth: I knowe him, and kepeth not his cōmaundemētes, is a lyar, and the trueth is not in him,
2:5 Whosoever kepeth his worde/ ī hym is the love of god parfet in dede. And therin knowe we that we are in hym. Whosoever kepeth his (worde) in him is the love of god parfect in dede. And therby knowe we that we are in him. Whosoeuer kepeth his worde/ in him is the loue of God parfect in dede. And therby knowe we that we are in him. But who so kepeth his worde, in him is the loue of God perfecte in dede. Hereby knowe we, that we are in him.
2:6 He that sayth he bydeth in hym/ ought to walke even as he walked. He that sayth he bydeth in him ought to walke even as he walked. He that sayth he bydeth in him/ ought to walke euen as he walked. He yt sayeth he abydeth in him, oughte to walke euen as he walked.
2:7 Brethren I write no newe cōmaundemēt vnto you: but that olde cōmaūdemēt which ye herde from the begynnynge. The olde cōmaūdemēt is the worde which ye herde frō the begynnynge. Brethren I write no newe cōmaundement vnto you: but that olde cōmaundemēt which ye hearde from the begynnynge. The olde cōmaundement is the worde which ye hearde from the begynnynge. Brethren I write no neue cōmaundement vnto you: but that olde cōmaundemēt which ye hearde from the beginninge. The olde commaundement is the worde which ye hearde from the beginninge. Brethren, I wryte no new commaundement vnto you, but that olde commaundement, which ye haue herde from the begynnynge. The olde cōmaundement is the worde, which ye haue herde from the begynnynge.
2:8 Agayne a newe cōmaūdemēt I write vnto you/ a thynge that is true ī hym/ and also in you: for the darknes is past/ and the true lyght nowe shyneth. Agayne a newe cōmaundement I write vnto you/ a thynge that is true in him/ and also in you: for the darknes is past/ and the true lyght now shyneth. Agayne a newe cōmaundement I write vnto you/ a thinge that is true in him/ and also in you: for the dercknes is past/ & the true lyght now shyneth. Agayne, a new cōmaundemēt wryte I vnto you, a thinge that is true in him & also in you: for the darknesse is past, and the true lighte now shyneth.
2:9 He that sayth howe that he is in the true light/ ād yet hateth his brother/ is ī darknes evē vntyll this tyme. He that sayth how that he is in the light/ and yet hateth his brother/ is in darknes even vntyll this tyme. He that sayth how that he is in the light/ and yet hateth his brother/ is in dercknes euen vntyll this tyme. He that sayeth he is in lighte, and hateth his brother, is yet in darknesse.
2:10 He that loveth his brother/ abydeth in the light/ and there is none occasion of evyll in hī. He that loveth his brother/ abydeth in the light and ther is none occasion of evyll in him. He that loueth his brother/ abydeth in the lyght and ther is none occasion of euyll in him. He yt loueth his brother, abydeth in the lighte, and there is none occasion of euell in him.
2:11 He that hateth his brother is in darknes/ and walketh in darknes: and cannot tell whither he goeth/ be cause thatt darknes hath blynded his eyes. He that hateth his brother is in darknes/ and walketh in darknes: and cannot tell whither he goeth/ because that darknes hath blynded his eyes. He that hateth his brother/ is in dercknes/ and walketh in dercknes: and cānot tell whither he goeth/ because that dercknes hath blinded his eyes. But he yt hateth his brother, is in darknes, and walketh in darknes, and can not tell whither he goeth, for ye darknes hath blynded his eyes.
2:12 Babes I write vnto you howe that youre synnes are forgevē you for his names sake. Babes I write vnto you how that youre synnes are forgeven you for his names sake. Babes I write vnto you how that youre synnes are forgeuen you for his names sake. Babes, I wryte vnto you, that yor synnes are forgeuen you for his names sake.
2:13 I wryte vnto you fathers/ howe that ye have knowē hī that was frō the begynnynge. I wryte vnto you yonge mē/ howe that ye have overcome the wicked. I wryte vnto you lytell childrē/ hawe that ye have knowne the father. I wryte vnto you fathers/ how that ye have knowen him that was from the begynnynge. I wryte vnto you yonge men/ how that ye have overcome the wicked. I wryte vnto you lytell children/ how that ye have knowne the father. I write vnto you fathers/ how that ye knowe him that was frō the beginninge. I write vnto you yonge men/ how that ye haue ouercome the wicked. I wryte vnto you lytell chyldren/ how that ye knowe the father. I wryte vnto you fathers, how that ye haue knowne him which is from ye begynnynge. I wryte vnto you yonge mē, how that ye haue euercome the wicked. I wryte vnto you litle children, how that ye haue knowne the father.
2:14 I wryte vnto you fathers/ howe that ye have knowē hī that was frō the begynnynge. I wryte vnto you yonge men/ howe that ye are stronge: and the worde of God abydeth ī you/ ād ye have over come that wicked I wryte vnto you fathers/ how that ye have knowē him that was frō the begynnynge. I wryte vnto you yoūge men/ how that ye are stronge: and the worde of God abydeth in you and ye have over come that wicked. I wryte vnto you fathers/ how that ye knowe him that was from the begynnynge. I wryte vnto you yoūge mē/ how that ye are stronge and the worde of god abydeth in you and ye haue ouer come that wicked. I haue wrytten vnto you fathers, how that ye haue knowne him, which is frō the begynnynge. I haue wrytten vnto you yonge men, how that ye are stronge, and the worde of God abydeth in you, and ye haue ouercome that wicked.
2:15 Se that ye love not the worlde/ nether the thyngſ that are in the worlde. Yf eny mā love the worlde/ the love of the father is not in hī. Se that ye love not the worlde/ nether the thynges that are in the worlde. Yf eny man love the worlde/ the love of the father is not in him. Se that ye loue not the worlde/ nether the thynges that are in the worlde. If eny man loue the worlde/ the loue of the father is not in him. Se that ye loue not the worlde, nether ye thinges that are in the worlde. Yf eny man loue the worlde, the loue of the father is not in him:
2:16 For all that is in the worlde (as the lust of the flesshe/ the lust of the eyes/ and the pryde of gooddes) is not of the father: butt of the worlde. For all that is in ye worlde (as the lust of the flesshe/ the lust of the eyes/ & ye pryde of gooddes) is not of the father: but of ye worlde For all that is in the worlde (as the lust of the flesshe/ the lust of the eyes/ and the pryde of goodes) is not of the father/ but of the worlde. for all that is in the worlde (namely the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pryde of life) is not of the father, but of the worlde.
2:17 And the worlde vannyssheth awaye/ and the lust ther of: butt he that fulfilleth the will of god/ abydeth ever. And the worlde vannyssheth awaye/ and the lust therof: but he that fulfilleth the will of god/ abydeth ever. And the worlde vannyssheth awaye/ and the lust ther of: but he that fulfilleth the will of god/ abydeth euer. And the worlde passeth awaye and the lust therof. But he that fulfylleth the wyll of God, abydeth for euer.
2:18 Lytell children it is the last tyme/ ād as ye have herde howe thatt Antichrist shall come: even nowe are there many Antichristes come allredy wher by we knowe that it is the last tyme. Lytell children it is the last tyme/ and as ye have herde how that Antichrist shall come: even now are there many Antichristes come allredy. Wherby we knowe that it is the last tyme. Lytell Chyldren it is the last tyme/ & as ye haue herde how that Antichrist shall come: euen now are there many Antichristes come allredy. Wherby we knowe that it is the last tyme. Litle children, it is the last houre, and (as ye haue herde that Antechrist shal come) euen now are there many become Antechristes allready: wherby we knowe, that it is ye last houre.
2:19 They went oute from vs but they were nott of vs. For yf they had bene of vs/ they wolde no dout have continued with vs. Butt that fortuned that ytt myght apere/ that they were not of vs. They went oute from vs but they were not of vs. For yf they had bene of vs/ they wolde no dout/ have continued with vs. But that fortuned that yt myght appere/ that they were not of vs. They went oute from vs/ but they were not of vs. For yf they had bene of vs/ they wolde no dout/ haue continued with vs. But that fortuned that it myght appere/ that they were not of vs. They wente out frō vs, but they were not of vs: for yf they had bene of vs, they wolde no doute haue contynued with vs. But that they maye be knowne, how that they are not all of vs.
2:20 And ye have an oyntmēt of the holy gost/ ād ye knowe all thīgſ. And ye have an oyntment of ye holy gost/ and ye knowe all thynges. And ye haue an oyntment of the holy gost and ye knowe all thynges. But ye haue the anoyntinge of him yt is holy, & ye knowe all thīges.
2:21 I wrote not vnto you/ as though ye knewe not the trueth: but as though ye knewe it/ ād knowe also that no lye cōmeth of trueth. I wrote not vnto you/ as though ye knewe not the trueth: but as though ye knewe it and knowe also that no lye commeth of trueth. I wrote not vnto you/ as though ye knewe not the trueth: but as though ye knewe it/ and knowe also that no lye cōmeth of trueth. I haue not wryttē vnto you, as though ye knewe not ye trueth but ye knowe it, & are sure, yt no lye cōmeth of ye trueth.
2:22 who is a lyar: but he that denyeth that Iesus is Christ? he is Antichrist that denieth the father ād the sonne. Who is a lyar: but he that denyeth that Iesus is Christ? The same is the Antichrist that denyeth the father and the sonne. Who is a lyar but he that denyeth that Iesus is Christ? the same is the Antichrist that denyeth the father & the sonne. Who is a lyar, but he yt denyeth yt Iesus is Christ? The same is ye Antichrist, yt denyeth the father & ye sonne.
2:23 Whosoever denyeth the sonne/ the same hath not the father. Whosoever denyeth the sonne the same hath not the father. Whosoeuer denyeth the sonne/ the same hath not the father. Whosoeuer denyeth the sonne, the same hath not the father.
2:24 Let therfore abyde in you that same which ye herde frō the begynnynge. Yf that which ye herde frō the begynnynge shall remayne in you/ ye also shall cōtinewe ī the sonne/ and in the father. Let therfore abyde in you that same which ye hearde from the begynnynge. Yf that which ye hearde from ye begynnynge/ shall remayne in you/ ye also shall continewe in the sonne/ and in the father Let therfore abyde in you that same which ye hearde from the begynnynge. If that which ye hearde frō the beginninge/ shall remayne in you/ ye also shall cōtinewe in the sonne/ and in the father. Loke what ye haue herde now from ye begynnynge, let the same abyde in you. Yf yt which he herde from the begynnynge shal remayne in you, then shal ye also abyde in ye sonne and in the father.
2:25 And this is the promes that he hath promysed vs/ even eternall lyfe. And this is the promes yt he hath promysed vs/ even eternall lyfe. And this is the promes that he hath promysed vs euen eternall lyfe. And this is the promes yt he hath promysed vs, euē eternall life.
2:26 This have I written vnto you/ as cōcernynge thē that disceave you. This have I writtē vnto you/ concernynge thē yt disceave you. This haue I writtē vnto you/ concerninge them that disceaue you. This haue I wryttē vnto you cōcerninge thē that disceaue you.
2:27 And the anoyntynge which ye have receaved of hym dwelleth ī you. And ye nede not that eny man teache you: but as that annoyntynge teacheth you all thīgſ/ and is true/ and is no lye: and as it taught you/ even so byde therin. And ye anoyntynge which ye have receaved of him/ dwelleth in you. And ye nede not that eny man teache you: but as yt annoyntynge teaheth you all thynges/ and is true/ and is no lye: and as it taught you/ even so byde therin. And the anoyntinge which ye haue receaued of him/ dwelleth in you And ye nede not that eny man teache you: but as the annoyntynge teacheth you all thinges/ and is true/ and is no lye: and as it taught you/ euen so byde therin. And the anoyntinge which ye haue receaued of him, dwelleth in you: & ye nede not yt eny mā teach you, but as the anoyntinge teacheth you all thīges, euen so is it true, & is no lye. And as it hath taughte you, euē so abide ye therin.
2:28 And nowe babes abyde ī hym/ that whē he shall apere/ we maye be bolde/ ād nott be made a shamed of hī at his cōmynge. And nowe babes abyde in him that when he shall appere/ we maye be bolde and not be made a shamed of him at his commynge. And nowe babes abyde in him that when he shall appere/ we maye be bolde and not be made a shamed of him at his cōmynge. And now babes, abyde in hī, yt whā he shal appeare, we maye be bolde, & not be made ashamed of him at his commynge.
2:29 Yff ye knowe that he is righteous/ knowe also that he whych foloweth rightewesnes/ is borne of hym. Yf ye knowe that he is righteous/ knowe also that he which foloweth rightewesnes/ is borne of him. Yf ye knowe that he is ryghteous/ knowe also that he which foloweth ryghtewesnes/ is borne of him. Yf ye knowe yt he is righteous, knowe also that he which doth righteousnes, is borne of him.

1:1 THat which was frō the begynnyng declare we vnto you/ which we have herde which we have sene with oure eyes/ which we have loked apō/ ād oure hondes have handled/ of the worde of lyfe. THat which was frō the begynninge/ concerninge which we have hearde/ which we have sene with oure eyes/ which we have loked vpon/ & oure hondes have hādled/ of the worde of life. THat which was frō the beginninge/ which we haue hearde/ which we haue sene with oure eyes/ which we haue loked vpon/ & oure hondes haue handled/ of the worde of lyfe. THat which was from ye begynnynge, which we haue herde, which we haue sene with or eyes, which we haue loked vpon, and or handes haue handled of the worde of life:
1:2 For the lyfe apered/ and we have sene/ and beare witnes/ and shewe vnto you that eternall lyfe/ which was with the father/ ād apered vnto vs. For the lyfe appered/ & we have sene/ & beare witnes/ & shewe vnto you that eternall lyfe/ which was with the father/ and appered vnto vs. For the lyfe appered/ & we haue sene and beare witnes/ & shewe vnto you that eternall life/ which was with the father/ & appered vnto vs. and the life hath appeared, and we haue sene, and beare wytnes, and shewe vnto you ye life that is euerlastinge, which was with the father, and hath apeared vnto vs.
1:3 That which we have sene and herde declare we vnto you that ye maye have fellishippe with vs/ and that oure fellishippe maye be with the father/ ād his sōne Iesus Christ. That which we have sene and herde declare we vnto you/ that ye maye have felloushippe with vs/ and that oure fellishippe maye be with the father and his sonne Iesus Christ. That which we haue sene and herde/ declare we vnto you/ that ye maye haue felloushippe with vs & that oure felloushippe maye be with the father & his sonne Iesus Christ. That which we haue sene & herde, declare we vnto you, that ye also maye haue fellishippe with vs, and that oure fellishippe maye be with the father and with his sonne Iesus Christ.
1:4 And this write we vnto you/ that youre ioye maye be full. And this write we vnto you/ that oure ioye maye be full. And this write we vnto you/ that/ oure ioye maye be full. And this wryte we vnto you, that youre ioye maye be full.
1:5 And this is the tydyngſ which we have herde of hī/ ād declare vnto you/ that god is lyght/ ād ī hī is no darknes at all. And this is the tydynges which we have hearde of him/ and declare vnto you/ that god is lyght/ and in him is no darknes at all/ And this is the tydinges which we haue hearde of him & declare vnto you/ that God is lyght & in him is no dercknes at all. And this is the tydinges which we haue herde of him, & declare vnto you, that God is lighte, and in him is no darknes at all.
1:6 yf we saye that we have fellishippe with hym/ ād yet walke in darknes/ we lye/ and do not the truth: yf we saye that we have fellishippe with him/ & yet walke in darknes/ we lye/ and do not the truth: If we saye that we haue fellishippe with him/ & yet walke in dercknes/ we lye/ and do not the truth. Yf we saye that we haue fellishippe with him, and yet walke in darknes, we lye, and do not the trueth.
1:7 but ād yf we walke ī lyght even as he is in lyght/ thē have we fellishippe with hym/ ād the bloud of Christ his sonne clenseth vs from all synne. but and yf we walke in (lyght) even as he is in lyght/ then have we fellishippe with him/ and the bloud of Iesus Christ his sonne clenseth vs from all synne. But and yf we walke in (lyght) euen as he is in lyght/ then haue we fellishippe with him/ and the bloud of Iesus Christ his sonne clenseth vs from all synne. But yf we walke in lighte, euen as he is in lighte, then haue we fellishippe together, and the bloude of Iesus Christ his sonne clenseth vs from all synne.
1:8 Yf we shall saye that we have no synne/ we deceave oure selves/ and trueth is not in vs. Yf we saye that we have no synne/ we deceave oure selves/ and trueth is not in vs. Yf we saye that we haue no synne/ we deceaue oure selues and trueth is not in vs. Yf we saye that we haue no synne, we disceaue oure selues, and the trueth is not in vs.
1:9 yf we knowledge oure synnes/ he is faythfull ād iust/ to for geve vs oure synnes/ ād to clense vs frō all vnrightewesnes. Yf we knowledge oure synnes/ he is faythfull and iust/ to forgeve vs oure synnes/ and to clense vs from all vnrightewesnes. Yf we knowledge oure synnes/ he is faythfull and iust/ to forgeue vs oure synnes/ & to clense vs from all vnrightewesnes. But yf we knowlege oure synnes, he is faithfull and iust to forgeue vs oure synnes, & to clense vs from all vnrighteousnes.
1:10 Yf we saye we have not sīned/ we make hym a lyar/ and his worde is not ī vs. Yf we saye we have not sinned/ we make him a lyar/ & his worde is not in vs. Yf we saye we haue not synned/ we make him a lyar/ & his worde is not in vs. Yf we saye, we haue not synned, we make him a lyar, and his worde is not in vs.

3:3 This fyrst vnderstonde/ that there shall come in the last dayes mockers/ which will walke after their awne lustes This fyrst vnderstōde/ that ther shall come in the last dayes mockers/ which will walke after their awne lustes This fyrst vnderstonde/ that ther shall come in the last dayes/ mockers/ which will walke after their awne lustes This first vnderstonde, that in the last dayes there shal come mockers, which wyll walke after their awne lustes,
3:4 and saye: Where is the promes of his commynge? For sence the fathers died all thynges continue in the same estate wherin they were at the begynnynge. & saye. Where is the promes of his cōmynge? For sence ye fathers dyed/ all thingſ cōtinue in ye same estate wher in they were at ye begynninge. and saye. Where is the promes of his cōminge? For sence the fathers dyed/ all thinges continue in the same estate wherin they were at the begīninge. & saye: Where is the promes of his commynge? For sence the fathers fell on slepe, euery thinge contynueth as it was from the begynnynge of ye creature.
3:5 This they knowe not (and that willyngly) howe that the hevens a grett whyle ago were/ and the erth that was ī the water/ appered vppe out of the water by the worde of god: This they knowe not (and that willyngly) how that the hevens a great whyle ago were/ & the erth that was in the water/ appered vp out of the water by the worde of god: This they knowe not (& that willingly) how that the heauens a great whyle ago were/ & the erth that was in the water/ appered vp out of the water by the worde of god: This they knowe not (and that wylfully) how that the heauens were afore tyme also, and the earth out of the water, & was in the water by the worde of God,
3:6 by the which thīgſ/ the worlde that thē was perisshed over flowen with the fludde. by the which thingſ/ the worlde yt then was/ perisshed over flowen wt the water. by the which thinges the worlde that then was/ perisshed ouer flowen with the water. yet was the worlde at that tyme destroyed by the same with the floude.
3:7 Butt the hevens verely ād erth which are nowe/ are kept by the same worde in store/ ād reserved vnto fyre/ agaynst the daye of iudgemēt ād perdicion of vngodly men. But the hevēs verely & erth which are now/ are kept by the same worde in store/ & reserved vnto fyre/ agaynst the daye of iudgement and perdicion of vngodly men. But the heauēs verely & erth which are now/ are kept by the same worde in store/ & reserued vnto fyre/ agaynst the daye of iudgemēt and perdicion of vngodly men. But the heauens which are yet, and ye earth, are kepte in stoare by his worde, to be reserued vnto fyre agaynst the daye of iudgment and damnacion of vngodly men.
3:8 Derely beloved be not ignorant of this one thynge/ howe that one daye is with the lorde/ as a thousande yeare/ and a thousand yeare as one daye. Derely beloved/ be not ignorant of this one thynge/ how that one daye is wt the lorde/ as a thousande yeare/ and a thousand yeare as one daye. Derely beloued/ be not ignorāt of this one thinge/ how that one daye is with the Lorde/ as a thousande yeare/ and thousande yeare as one daye. Dearly beloued, be not ignoraunt of this one thinge, how that one daye is with the LORDE as a thousande yeare: and a thousande yeare as one daye.
3:9 The lorde is not slake to fulfill his promes as some men count slacknes: but is pacient to vs warde and wolde have no man lost/ butt wolde receave all men to repentaunce. The lorde is not slacke to fulfill his promes/ as some men coūt slacknes: but is pacient to vs warde & wolde have no man lost/ but wolde receave all men to repentaūce. The Lorde is not slacke to fulfyll his promes/ as some men coūt slacknes: but is paciēt to vs warde/ & wolde haue no man lost/ but wolde receaue all men to repentaunce. The LORDE is not slacke to fulfyll his promes (as some mē counte slacknesse) but is paciēt to vs warde, and wyl not that eny mā shulde be lost, but that euery man shulde amende himselfe.
3:10 Neverthelesse the daye off the lorde will come as a thefe in the nyght/ in the which daye/ the hevens shall perisshe with terrible noyse/ and the elementſ shall melt with heet. And the erth with the workſ that are therin shall bornne. Neverthelesse ye daye of the lorde will come as a thefe in ye nyght/ in the which daye/ ye hevens shall perisshe with terrible noyes/ & the elemētes shall melt with heet/ and the erth with the workes that are therin shall burne. Neuerthelesse the daye of the Lorde will come as a thefe in the nyght/ in the which daye/ the heauēs shall perisshe with terrible noyes & the elemētes shall melt with heet/ & the erth with the workes that are therin shall burne. Neuertheles the daye of the LORDE shal come euen as a thefe in the night: in the which (daye) the heauens shal perishe with a greate noyse, and the Elementes shal melte with heate, and the earth and ye workes that are therin, shal burne.
3:11 Yf all these thyngſ shall perisshe/ what maner persons ought ye to be in holy conversacion/ and godlines: Yf all these thingſ shall perisshe/ what maner persons ought ye to be in holy conversacion and godlynes: Yf all these thinges shall perisshe/ what maner persons ought ye to be in holy conuersacion and godlynes: Yf all these thinges shal perishe, what maner persons then ought ye to be in holy cōuersacion and godlynes,
3:12 lokyngefore/ and hastynge vnto the commynge off the daye off God/ in which the hevens shall perisshe with fyre/ and the elementſ shalbe consumed with heate. lokynge for and hastynge vnto the commynge of the daye of God/ in which the hevens shall perisshe with fyre/ and the elementes shalbe consumed with heate. lokinge for and hastinge vnto the comminge of the daye of God/ in which the heauēs shall perisshe with fyre/ and the elementes shalbe consumed with heate. lokynge for and hastynge vnto the commynge of the LORDE? In the which the heauens shal perishe with fyre, and the elementes shal melt with heate.
3:13 Neverthelesse we loke for a neve heven/ and a newe erth/ accordynge to his promes/ where in dwelleth rightewesnes. Neverthelesse we loke for a newe heven and a newe erth/ accordynge to his promes/ where in dwelleth rightewesnes. Neuerthelesse we loke for a newe heauen and a newe erth accordinge to his promes/ wherin dwelleth rightewesnes. Neuertheles we loke for a new heauen and a new earth (acordynge to his promes) wherin dwelleth righteousnes.
3:14 Wherfore derly beloved/ seynge that ye loke for soche thyngſ/ be diligent that ye maye be founde of hym in peace/ with out spott and vndefiled: Wherfore derly beloved/ seynge yt ye loke for soche thyngſ/ be diligēt that ye maye be founde of him in peace/ wt out spotte & vndefiled Wherfore derly beloued/ seynge that ye loke for soche thinges/ be diligent that ye maye be founde of him in peace/ without spotte and vndefiled. Wherfore dearly beloued, seynge that ye loke for soch thinges, be diligent, yt ye maye be founde before him in peace without spot and vndefyled:
3:15 And suppose that the longe sufferynge off the lorde is helth/ even as oure derely beloved brother Paul/ accordynge to the wysdom geven vnto hym/ wrote to you/ And suppose that ye longe sufferynge of the lorde is saluacion/ even as oure derely beloved brother Paul/ accordynge to ye wysdome gevē vnto him/ wrote to you/ And suppose that the longe sufferinge of the Lorde is saluacion/ euen as oure derely beloued brother Paul/ accordinge to the wysdome geuen vnto him/ wrote to you/ and counte the longsufferynge of oure LORDE youre saluacion, Euen as oure dearly beloued brother Paul (acordinge to the wyssdome geuē vnto him) wrote vnto you:
3:16 yee/ almost in every pistle speakynge off soche thyngſ: amōge which are many thyngſ harde to be vnderstonde/ which they that are vnlearned/ and vnstable pervert/ as they do wother scriptures vnto their owne destruccion. yee/ almost in very pistle speakynge of soche thyngſ: amōge which are many thynges harde to be vnderstonde/ which they that are vnlearned & vnstable/ pervert/ as they do other scriptures vnto their awne destrucciō. yee/ all moost in euery epistle/ speakinge of soche thinges: amonge which are many thinges harde to be vnderstonde/ which they that are vnlearned and vnstable/ peruert/ as they do other scriptures vnto their awne destruccion. yee speakinge therof allmost in all Epistles, wherin are many thinges harde to be vnderstonde, which they that are vnlerned and vnstable, peruerte, as they do the other scriptures also, to their awne dānacion.
3:17 Ye therfore dearly beloved seynge ye are warned/ Beware lest ye be also plucked awaye with the erroure of the wicked/ and fall from youre owne stedfastnes: Ye therfore beloved/ seynge ye knowe it before hande/ beware lest ye be also plucked a waye with the erroure of the wicked/ and fall from youre awne stedfastnes: Ye therfore beloued/ seynge ye knowe it before honde/ beware lest ye be also plucked awaye with the erroure of the wicked/ and fall from youre awne stedfastnes: Ye therfore beloued, seynge ye knowe it before hande, bewarre, lest ye also be plucte awaye thorow the erroure of ye wicked, and fall from yor owne stedfastnes.

2:1 THere were falce prophetſ amonge the people even as there shalbe falce teachers amonge you: which prevely shall brynge in damnable sectes/ even denyinge the lorde that hath bought them/ and brynge on theier owen heeddes swyft damnacion/ THer were falce prophetes amonge the people/ even as ther shalbe falce teachers amonge you: wich prevely shall brynge in damnable sectes/ even denyinge the Lorde that hath bought them/ and brynge vpon them selves swyft damnacion/ THer were false Prophetes amōge the people/ euen as ther shalbe false teachers amōge you: which preuely shall bringe in damnable sectes/ euē denyinge the Lorde that hath bought them/ & bringe vpon them selues swyft damnacion/ BVt there were false prophetes also amonge the people, euen as there shalbe false teachers amonge you likewyse, which preuely shal brynge in damnable sectes, euen denyenge the LORDE that hath boughte them, and shal brynge vpon them selues swift damnacion:
2:2 and many shall folowe their damnable wayes/ by which the waye off trueth shalbe evyll spoken off/ and many shall folowe their damnable wayes/ by which the waye of trueth shalbe evyll spoken of/ and many shall folowe their damnable wayes/ by which the waye of trueth shalbe euyll spoken of/ and many shal folowe their damnable wayes, by whō the waye of the trueth shal be euell spokē of:
2:3 and thorowe coveteousnes shall they with fayned wordſ make marchādyse of you/ whose iudgement is not farre of/ ād there dampnacion slepeth not. and thorow coveteousnes shall they with fayned wordes make marchandyse of you/ whose iudgement is not farre of/ and their dampnacion slepeth not. and thorow coueteousnes shall they with fayned wordes make marchandyse of you/ whose iudgement is not farre of/ & their dampnacion slepeth not. and thorow cuvetousnes shal they with fayned wordes make marchaundise of you, vpō whō the iudgment is not necligēt in tarienge of olde, and their damnacion slepeth not.
2:4 For yf god spared not the angels that synned but cast them doune into hell/ and putt them in chaynes of darknes/ there to be kept vnto iudgement. For yf god spared not the angels that synned/ but cast them doune into hell/ and delyuered them in chaynes of darknes/ to be kept vnto iudgement. For yf God spared not the angels that synned/ but cast them doune into hell/ and deliuered thē into chaynes of dercknes/ to be kept vnto iudgement: For yf God spared not the angels that synned, but cast them downe with the cheynes of darknes in to hell, and delyuered thē ouer to be kepte vnto iudgment:
2:5 nether spared the olde worlde: butt saved Noe the ayghte preacher of rightewesnes/ and brought in the flud into the worlde off the vngodly/ Nether spared the olde worlde but saved Noe the ryghte preacher of rightewesnes/ and brought in the flud vpon the worlde of the vngodly/ nether spared the olde worlde/ but saued Noe the eyght preacher of rightewesnes/ & brought in the flud vpon the worlde of the vngodly/ Nether spared the olde worlde, but saued Noe the preacher of righteousnes him selfe beynge ye eight, and brought the floude vpō the worlde of the vngodly:
2:6 and turned the cities of Zodom and Gomor into asshes: overthrewe them/ damned them/ ād made them an ensample vnto all that after shulde live vngodly. and turned the cities of zodom and Gomor into asshes: overthrewe them/ damned thē/ & made on them an ensample vnto all yt after shuld live vngodly. and turned the cities of zodom and Gomor into asshes: ouerthrewe thē/ damned them/ & made on them an ensample vnto all that after shulde lyue vngodly. And turned the cities of Sodom and Gomor in to asshes, ouerthrue them, damned them, and made on them an ensample, vnto those that after shulde lyue vngodly:
2:7 And iust Lot vexed with the vnclenly conversacion off the wicked/ delivered he. And iust Lot vexed with the vnclenly conversaciō of the wicked/ delivered he. And iust Lot vexed with the vnclenly conuersacion of the wycked/ deliuered he. And delyuered iust Loth which was vexed with the vngodly conuersacion of ye wicked.
2:8 For he beynge ryghteous and dwellynge amonge them/ in seynge and hearynge/ vexed his righteous soule from daye to daye with their vnrighteous dedes. For he beynge ryghteous and dwellynge amonge them/ in seynge and hearynge/ vexed his righteous soule from daye to daye with their vnlawfull dedes. For he beynge ryghteous and dwellinge amonge them/ in seynge and hearinge/ vexed his ryghteous soule from daye to daye with their vnlawfull dedes. For in so moch as he was righteous and dwelt amonge them, so that he must nedes se it and heare it, his righteous soule was greued from to daye to daye with their vnlaufull dedes.
2:9 The lorde knoweth howe to deliver the godly out off temptacion/ and howe to reserve the vniuste vnto the daye off iudgement for to be punnisshed: The lorde knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptacion/ and how to reserve the vniuste vnto the daye of iudgement for to be punisshed: The Lorde knoweth how to deliuer the godly out of temptacion/ and how to reserue the vniuste vnto the daye of iudgement for to be punisshed: The LORDE knoweth how to delyuer the godly out of tentacion, and how to reserue the vniust vnto the daye of iudgment for to be punyshed:
2:10 namly them that walke after the flesshe in the lust off vnclennes/ and despyse the ruelars. Presumpteous are they/ and stubborne and feare not to speake evyll off them that are in auctorite. namely them that walke after the flesshe in the lust of vnclennes/ and despyse the rulars. Presumpteous are they/ & stubborne and feare not to speake evyll of them that are in auctorite. namely them that walke after the flesshe in the lust of vnclennes/ and despyse the rulers. Presumpteous are they/ & stubborne and feare not to speake euyll of them that are in auctorite. but specially them that walke after the flesh in ye lust of vnclennes, and despyse the rulers: beynge presumptuous, stubborne, and feare not to speake euell of thē yt are in auctorite
2:11 When the angels which are gretter bothe in power ād myght/ receave not of the lorde raylynge iudgement agaynst them. When ye angels which are greater bothe in power and myght/ receave not of ye lorde raylynge iudgement agaynst them. When the angels which are greater bothe in power and myght/ receaue not of the lorde raylinge iudgemēt agaynst them. whā the angels yet which are greater both in power and might, beare not that blasphemous iudgment agaynst them of the LORDE.
2:12 But these as brute beastes/ naturally made to be taken and destroyed/ speake evyll of that they knowe not/ and shall perisshe through their owne destruccion/ But these as brute beastes/ naturally made to betaken and destroyed/ speake evyll of that they knowe not/ and shall perisshe through their awne destruccion/ But these as brute beastes/ naturally made to betaken and destroyed/ speake euyll of that they knowe not/ and shall perysshe through their awne destruccion/ But these are as ye brute beestes, which naturally are broughte forth to be takē and destroyed: speakynge euell of yt they knowe not, and shal perishe in their owne destruccion,
2:13 and receave the revarde of vnrightewesnes. They count it pleasure to live deliciously for a season. Spottes they are and filthynes: and off you they make a mockyngstoke feastynge togedder ī their deceavable wayes: and receave the rewarde of vnrightewesnes. They count it pleasure to live deliciously for a season. Spottes they are & filthines/ livinge at pleasure & in disceaveable wayes feastynge with you: and receaue the rewarde of vnrightewesnes. They count it pleasure to liue deliciously for a season. Spottes they are & filthines/ liuinge at pleasure/ & in disceaueable wayes feastinge with you: and so receaue ye rewarde of vnrighteousnes. They counte it pleasure to lyue deliciously for a season: Spottes are they and fylthynes: lyuynge at pleasure and in disceaueable wayes: feastynge wt that which is youres,
2:14 havynge eyes full of advoutrie/ and that cānot cease to synne/ begylynge vnstable soules. Hertes they have exercysed with coveteousnes. They are cursed chyldren/ havinge eyes full of advoutrie & that cānot cease to synne/ begylynge vnstable soules. Hertes they have exercised wt coveteousnes. They are cursed chyldren/ hauinge eyes full of aduoutrie & that cānot cease to sinne/ begilinge vnstable soules. Hertes they haue exercised with coueteousnes. They are cursed chyldren/ hauynge eyes full of aduoutrye, and cā not ceasse from synne, entysinge vnstable soules: hauynge an hert exercysed wt couetousnes: they are cursed children,
2:15 and have forsaken the right waye/ and are gone astraye folowynge the waye of Balam the sonne of Bosor/ which loved the rewarde of vnrightewesnes: & have forsaken the right waye/ & are gone astraye folowinge ye waye of Balam the sonne of Bosor/ which loved the rewarde of vnrightewesnes: & haue forsaken the ryght waye & are gone astraye folowinge the waye of Balam the sonne of Bosor/ which loued the rewarde of vnrightewesnes: and haue forsaken the righte waye, and are gone astraye: folowinge the waye of Balaam the sonne of Bosor, which loued the rewarde of vnrighteousnes:
2:16 but was rebuked of his iniquitie. The tame and dom beast/ speakynge with mānes voyce forbade the folisshnes of the prophet. but was rebuked of his iniquitie. The tame & dōme beast/ speakinge with mānes voyce/ forbade the folisshnes of the Prophete. but was rebuked of his iniquitie. The tame & dōme beast/ speakinge with mānes voyce/ forbade the folisshenes of the Prophete. but was rebuked of his iniquyte. The tame and domme beast spake with mās voyce, & forbad the foolishnes of ye prophet.
2:17 These are welles without water/ and cloudes caried about of a tempest/ to whone the myst off darcknes is reserved for ever. These are welles without water/ & cloudes caried about of a tēpest/ to whome the myst of darcknes is reserved for ever. These are welles without water/ & cloudes caried about of a tēpest/ to whom the myst of dercknes is reserued for euer. These are welles without water, & cloudes caried aboute of a tēpest: to whō ye myst of darknesse is reserued for euer.
2:18 For when they have spoken the swellynge wordes off vanytie/ they begyle with wantannes thorowe the lustes off the flesshe them that were clene escaped: butt nowe are wrapped in errours. For when they have spokē the swellinge wordes of vanytie/ they begyle wt wantānes thorowe ye lustes of the flesshe/ them that were clene escaped: but now are wrapped in errours. For when they haue spokē the swellinge wordes of vanytie/ they begyle with wantannes thorowe that lustes of the flesshe/ them that were clene escaped: but now are wrapped in errours. For they speake ye proude wordes of vanite, vnto ye vttemost, and entyse thorow wantannes vnto ye luste of the flesh, euen them that were cleane escaped, and now walke in erroure:
2:19 They promys them libertie/ and are them selves the bonde servauntſ of corrupciō. For of whō soever a man is over com/ vnto the same is he in bōdage. They promys them libertye/ & are them selves ye bonde servauntſ of corrupcion. For of whom soever a man is over come/ vnto ye same is he in bondage. They promys them libertie/ & are them selues the bonde seruauntes of corrupcion. For of whō soeuer a man is ouer come vnto the same is he in bondage. and promyse them libertye, where as they them selues are seruauntes off corrupcion. For off whom so euer a man is ouercome, vnto the same is he in bondage.
2:20 For yf they/ after they have escaped from the filthynes of the worlde thorowe the knowledge off the lorde/ and of the saviour Iesus Christ/ they are yet tangled agayne therin and over come: then is the latter ende worsse with them then the begynnynge. For yf they/ after they have escaped from the filthynes of the worlde thorowe ye knowledge of ye Lorde & of ye saviour Iesus Christ/ they are yet tāgled agayne therin & overcome: then is ye latter ende worsse with them then the beginninge. For yf they/ after they haue escaped from the filthynes of the worlde thorow the knowledge of the Lorde and of the sauiour Iesus Christ/ they are yet tangled agayne therin and ouercome: then is the latter ende worsse with them then the beginninge. For yf they (after they haue escaped from the fylthynes of the worlde, thorow the knowlege of ye LORDE and Sauioure Iesus Christ) are yet tangled agayne therin and ouercome, then is the latter ende worse vnto them then the begynnynge.
2:21 For it had bene better for them/ not to have knowne the waye of righteousnes/ then after they have knowen it/ to turne from the holy cōmaundment geven vnto them. For it had bene better for thē/ not to have knowne ye waye of righteousnes then after they have knowē it/ to turne frō the holy cōmaundmēt gevē vnto them. For it had bene better for them/ not to haue knowne the waye of righteousnes then after they haue knowen it/ to turne from the holy cōmaundement geuē vnto them. For it had bene better for them, not to haue knowne the waye of righteousnes, then after they haue knowne it, to turne from the holy commaundemēt, that was geuen vnto them.
2:22 Hit is happened vnto them accordynge to the true proverbe: The dogge is turned to his vomet agayne/ and the sowe after she is wesshed/ is returned to her wallowynge in the myre. It is happened vnto them accordinge to the true proverbe: The dogge is turned to his vomet agayne/ and the sow that was wesshed/ to her wallowynge in the myre. It is happened vnto thē accordinge to the true prouerbe: The dogge is turned to his vomet agayne/ & the sow that was wesshed/ to her wallowinge in the myrre. It is happened vnto them acordynge vnto the true prouerbe: ye dogg is turned to his vomyte agayne: and ye sowe that was wasshed, vnto hir walowynge in the myre.
