12:1 AS there gadered to gedther an innumerable multitude off people (in so moche that they trood won another) he began to saye vnto his disciples: Fyrst of all beware of the leven off the pharises/ which is ypocrysy. THere were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, in so moch that they trode one another: Then beganne he, and sayde first vnto his disciples: Bewarre of the leuen of the Pharises, which is ypocrisye.
12:2 For there is nothynge covered/ that shall not be vncovered: nether hid/ that shall not be knowen. For ther is no thinge covered/ that shall not be vncovered: nether hyd/ that shall not be knowen. For ther is nothinge couered/ that shall not be vncouered: nether hyd that shall not be knowen. But there is nothinge hyd, that shal not be discouered: nether secrete, that shal not be knowne.
12:3 Wherfore whatsoever ye have spoken in darknes: that same shalbe hearde in light. And that which ye have spoken in the eare/ even in secret places/ shalbe preached even on the toppe of the housses. For whatsoever ye have spoken in in darknes: that same shalbe hearde in light. And that which ye have spoken in the the eare/ evē in secret places/ shalbe preached even on the toppe of the housses. For whatsoeuer ye haue spoken in darknes: that same shalbe hearde in lyght. And that which ye haue spoken in the eare euen in secret places/ shalbe preached euen on the toppe of the housses. Therfore whatsoeuer ye haue spokē in darknesse, that same shal be herde in light: and that ye haue spoken in to the eare in the chābers, shalbe preached vpon the house toppes.
12:4 I saye vnto you my frendes: feare ye not them that kyll the body/ and after that have nothynge that he can moare do. I saye vnto you my frēdes: Be not afrayde of them that kyll the body/ and after that have no moare that they can do. I saye vnto you my frendes: Be not afrayde of them that kyll the body/ and after that haue no moare that they can do. But I saye vnto you my frendes: Be not afrayed of them that kyll the body, and after that haue nomore that they can do.
12:5 I will shewe you/ whom ye shall feare. Feare hym which after he hath kylled/ hath power to cast in to hell. Ye I saye vnto you/ hym feare. But I will shewe you/ whom ye shall feare. Feare him which after he hath killed/ hath power to cast in to hell. Ye I saye vnto you/ him feare. But I will shewe you/ whom ye shall feare. Feare him which after he hath kylled/ hath power to cast into hell. Ye I saye vnto you/ him feare. But I wil shewe you, whom ye shal feare. Feare him, which after he hath kylled, hath power also to cast in to hell: Yee I saye vnto you: Feare him.
12:6 Are nott five sparowes bought for two farthynges? and none off them is forgotten of God. Are not five sparowes bought for two farthinges? And yet not one of them is forgotten of God. Are not fyue sparowes bought for two farthinges? And yet not one of them is forgotten of God. Are not fyue sparowes bought for two farthinges? Yet is not one of them forgotten before God.
12:7 Ye the very heers of youre heed are nombred. Feare nott therfore: Ye are moare off value/ then many sparowes. Also even the very heres of youre heedes are nombred. Feare not therfore: Ye are moare of value/ then many sparowes. Also euen the very heres of youre heedes are nombred. Feare not therfore: Ye are moare of value then many sparowes. The very hayres of youre heade also are nombred euery one. Feare not therfore, for ye are better then many sparowes.
12:8 I saye vnto you: Whosoever confesseth me before men/ even hym shall the sonne off man confesse also before the angels of God. I saye vnto you: Whosoever confesseth me before men/ evē him shall ye sonne of man confesse also before ye angels of God. I saye vnto you: Whosoeuer confesseth me before men/ euen him shall the sonne of man confesse also before the angels of God. I saye vnto you: Who so euer knowlegeth me before men, him shal the sonne of mā also knowlege before the angels of God:
12:9 And he that denyeth me before men: shalbe denyed before the angels off God. And he that denyeth me before men: shalbe denyed before ye angels of God. And he that denyeth me before men: shalbe denyed before the angels of God. But he that denyeth me before men, shalbe denyed before the angels of God.
12:10 And whosoever speaketh a worde agaynste the sonne of man itt shalbe forgeven hym. Butt vnto hym thatt blasphemeth the holy goost/ it shall not be forgeven. And whosoever speaketh a worde agaynst ye sonne of mā/ it shalbe forgeven him. But vnto him yt blasphemeth the holy goost/ it shall not be forgeven. And whosoeuer speaketh a worde agaynst the sonne of man/ it shalbe forgeuen him. But vnto him that blasphemeth the holy goost/ it shall not be forgeuen. And who so euer speaketh a worde agaynst the sonne of man, it shalbe forgeuen him: But who so blasphemeth the holy goost, it shal not be forgeuen him.
12:11 When they brynge you into their sinagogſ/ and vnto their rulers/ and officiers/ take noo thought how or what thynge ye shall answere/ or what ye shall speake. When they bringe you vnto the synagoges/ and vnto the rulers/ and officers/ take no thought how or what thinge ye shall answer or what ye shall speake. When they bringe you vnto the synagoges/ & vnto the rulers & officers take no thought how or what thinge ye shall answer or what ye shall speake. Whan they brynge you in to their synagoges, and to the rulers & officers, take ye no thought, how or what ye shal answere, or what ye shal speake:
12:12 For the holy goost shall teache you in the same houre/ what ye ought to saye. For the holy goost shall teache you in the same houre/ what ye ought to saye. For the holy goost shalll teache you in the same houre/ what ye ought to saye. for the holy goost shal teach you in the same houre, what ye ought to saye.
12:13 Won off the company sayde vnto hym: Master/ bid my brother devide the enherytaunce with me. One of the company sayde vnto hym: Master byd my brother devide the enheritaūce with me. One of the company sayde vnto him: Master byd my brother deuide the enheritaunce with me. But one of the people sayde vnto him: Master, byd my brother deuyde the enheritaunce with me.
12:14 And he sayde vnto hym: Man/ who made me a iudge/ or a devider over you? And he sayde vnto him: Man/ who made me a iudge or a devider over you? And he sayde vnto him: Man/ who made me a iudge or deuider ouer you? Neuertheles he sayde vnto him: Man, who hath set me to be a iudge or heretage parter ouer you?
12:15 And he sayde vnto them: take hede/ and beware off coveteousnes. For no mānes life stondeth in the haboundaūce of the thyngſ which he possesseth Wherfore he sayde vnto them: take hede/ and beware of covetousnes. For no mannes lyfe stondeth in the aboundaunce of the thinges which he possesseth. Wherfore he sayde vnto them: take hede/ and beware of couetousnes. For no mannes lyfe stondeth in the aboundaunce of the thinges which he possesseth. And he sayde vnto them: Take hede, and bewarre of couetousnesse, for noman lyueth therof, that he hath abundaunce of goodes.
12:16 And he put forth a similitude vnto them sayīge: The londes of a certayne man brought forth frutes plenteously/ And he put forth a similitude vnto them sayinge: The groūde of a certayne riche mā brought forth frutes plenteously/ And he put forth a similitude vnto them sayinge. The grounde of a certayne ryche man brought forth frutes plenteously/ And he tolde them a symilitude, and sayde: There was a riche man, whose felde had brought forth frutes plenteously,
12:17 and he thought in hym silfe sayinge: whatt shall I do/ because I have noo roume where to bestowe my frutes? & he thought in him silfe sayinge: what shall I do? because I have noo roume where to bestowe my frutes? & he thought in him selfe sayinge: what shall I do? because I haue no roume where to bestowe my frutes? and he thought in himself, and sayde: What shal I do? I haue nothinge wher in to gather my frutes.
12:18 And he sayde: This will I do. I will destroye my barnes/ and bilde greater/ and ther in will I gadder all my fruetes/ and all my goodes: And he sayde: This will I do. I will destroye my barnes/ and bilde greater/ & therin will I gadder all my frutes/ & my goodes: And he sayde: This will I do. I will destroye my barnes/ and bylde greater/ & therin will I gadder all my frutes/ and my goodes: And he sayde: This wil I do, I wil breake downe my barnes, & buylde greater, and therin wil I gather all myne increace, & my goodes,
12:19 and I will saye to my soule: Soule thou haste moch goodſ layde vp in stoore for many yeares/ take thyne ease: eate/ drynke ād be mery. & I will saye to my soule: Soule thou hast moch goodes layde vp in stoore for many yeares/ take thyne ease: eate/ drinke/ & be mery. & I will saye to my soule: Soule thou hast moch goodes layde vp in stoore for many yeares/ take thyne ease: eate/ drincke/ and be mery. & wil saye vnto my soule: Soule, thou hast moch goodes layed vp in stoare for many yeares, take now thine ease, eate, drinke, and be mery.
12:20 But God sayde vnto hym: Thou fole/ this nyght will they fetche awaye thy soule agayne from the. Then whose shall thoose thynges be which thou hast provided? But God sayde vnto him: Thou fole/ this night will they fetche awaye thy soule agayne from the. Then whose shall thoose thinges be which thou hast provyded? 12:21 So is itt with hym thatt gaddreth ryches/ and is not ryche in God. So is it with him that gadereth ryches/ and is not ryche in God. So is it with him that gadereth ryches? and is not ryche in God. Thus goeth it with him yt gathereth treasure for himself, and is not riche in God.
12:22 And he spake vnto his disciples: Therfore I saye vnto you: Take no tought for youre lyfe/ what ye shall eate/ Nether for youre body/ what ye shall putt on. And he spake vnto his disciples: Therfore I saye vnto you: Take no thought for youre lyfe/ what ye shall eate/ nether for youre body/ what ye shall put on. And he spake vnto his disciples: Therfore I saye vnto you: Take no thought for youre lyfe/ what ye shall eate: nether for youre body/ what ye shall put on. But he sayde vnto his disciples: Therfore I saye vnto you: Take ye no thought for youre life, what ye shal eate: nether for youre body, what ye shal put on.
12:23 The lyfe is moore then meate/ and the body is moore then raymēt. The lyfe is moare then meate/ and the bodye is moare then rayment. The lyfe is moare then meate/ and the bodye is moare then rayment. The life is more then meate, and the body more then raymēt.
12:24 Marcke wele the ravens/ for they nether sowe/ nor repe/ which nether have stoore housse ner barne/ and yet God fedeth them. Howe moche are ye better then the foules. Considre the ravens/ for they nether sowe nor repe/ which nether have stoorehousse ner barne/ & yet God fedeth them. How moche are ye better then the foules. Consydre the rauens/ for they nether sowe nor repe/ which nether haue stoorehousse ner barne/ and yet God fedeth them. How moche are ye better then the foules. Consydre the rauens, they nether sowe ner reape, they haue also nether stoarehouse ner barne, and yet God fedeth them. But how moch better are ye then the foules?
12:25 Which of you with takynge tought can adde to his stature won cubytt? Which of you with takynge thought can adde to his stature one cubit? Which of you with takynge thought can adde to his stature one cubit? Which of you (though he toke thought therfore) coulde put one cubyte vnto his stature?
12:26 Yf ye then be nott able to do that thynge which is least: why take ye thought for the remnaunt? Yf ye then be not able to do that thinge which is least: why take ye thought for the remmaunt? If ye then be not able to do that thinge which is least: why take ye thought for the remmaunt? Seinge then ye be not able to do that which is least, why take ye thought for the other?
12:27 Consydere the lylies howe they growe: They laboure nott: They spyn not: ād I saye vnto you/ Solomō in all his royalte was nott clothed lyke vnto one of these. Considre the lylies how they growe: They laboure not: they spyn not: and yet I saye vnto you/ that Salomon in all this royalte/ was not clothed lyke to one of these. Considre the lilies vpō the felde, how they growe: they laboure not, they spynne not. But I saye vnto you: that euen Salomen in all his royalte was not clothed like one of these.
12:28 Yf God then soo cloth the grasse which is to daye in the feldſ/ ād to morowe shalbe cast into the fornace: howe moche moore wyll he clothe you/ o ye endued with litell faith? Yf the grasse which is to daye in the felde/ and to morowe shalbe cast into the fornace/ God so clothe: how moche moore will he clothe you/ o ye endued wt litell faith? If the grasse which is to daye in the felde/ and to morowe shalbe cast into the fornace/ God so clothe: how moch moore will he cloth you/ o ye endued with lytell fayth? Wherfore yf God so cloth the grasse, yt is to daye in ye felde, and tomorow shalbe cast in to the fornace, how moch more shal he clothe you, o ye of litle faith?
12:29 And axe nott what ye shall eate/ or what ye shall drynke/ nether clyme ye vp an hye/ And axe not what ye shall eate/ or what ye shall drinke/ nether clyme ye vp an hye/ And axe not what ye shall eate or what ye shall drincke/ nether clyme ye vp an hye: Axe not ye therfore what ye shal eate, or what ye shal drynke, and clymme not vp an hye:
12:30 for all suche thyngſ the hethen people of the worlde seke for. Youre father knoweth that ye have nede off suche thyngſ. for all suche thinges the hethen people of the worlde seke for. Youre father knoweth that ye have nede of suche thinges. for all suche thinges the hethen people of the worlde seke for. Youre father knoweth that ye haue nede of suche thinges. The Heithen in the worlde seke after all soch thinges.
12:31 Wherfore seke ye after the kyngdome off heven/ and all these thyngſ shalbe ministred vnto you. Wherfore seke ye after the kyngedome of God/ and all these thinges shalbe ministred vnto you. Wherfore seke ye after the kyngedome of God/ and all these thinges shalbe ministred vnto you. But seke ye the kyngdome of God, and all these shal be mynistred vnto you.
12:32 Feare not litell floocke/ for it is youre fathers pleasure/ to geve you a kyngdom. Feare not litell floocke/ for it is youre fathers pleasure/ to geve you a kingdome. 12:33 Sell that ye have/ and geve almes. And make you bagges/ which wexe noot olde/ and treasure that fayleth nott in heven/ where noo thefe commeth/ nether moth corrupteth. 12:34 For where youre treasure ys/ There will youre hertes be also. For where youre treasure is/ there will youre hertes be also. For where youre treasure is/ there will youre hertes be also. for where youre treasure is, there wil youre hert be also.
12:35 Lett youre loynes be gerdde about/ and youre lightes brennynge/ Let youre loynes be gerdde about/ & youre lightes brennynge/ Let youre loynes be gerdde about/ and youre lyghtes brennynge/ Let youre loynes be gerded aboute, and youre lightes burnynge,
12:36 and ye youre selves/ lyke vnto men/ that watche for their master when he woll returne from a weddynge: that as sone as he commeth and knocketh/ they maye open vnto hym. & ye youre selves lyke vnto men/ that wayte for their master/ when he will returne frō a weddinge: that assone as he cōmeth & knocketh/ they maye opē vnto him. and ye youre selues lyke vnto men/ that wayte for their master/ when he will returne from a weddynge: that assone as he commeth and knocketh/ they maye open vnto him. and be ye like vnto men that wayte for their lorde, agaynst he returne from the mariage, that whan he cōmeth & knocketh, they maye straight waye open vnto him.
12:37 Happy are thoose servauntſ/ which their lorde/ when he cōmeth/ shall fynde walkynge/ Verely I saye vnto you/ he will gerdde hym silfe about/ and make them sitt doune to meate/ ād walke by them/ and minister vnto them. Happy are those servauntſ/ which the Lorde when he cōmeth/ shall fynde wakynge. Verely I saye vnto you/ he will gerdde him selfe about/ & make them sit doune to meate/ & walke by/ and minister vnto them. Happy are those seruauntes which the Lorde when he commeth/ shall fynde wakynge. Verely I saye vnto you/ he will gyrdde him selfe about/ and make them syt doune to meate/ and walke by/ and minister vnto them. Blessed are those seruauntes, whom the LORDE (whan he cōmeth) shal fynde wakynge. Verely I saye vnto you: He shal gyrde vp him self, and make them syt downe at the table, and shal go by them, and mynister vnto them.
12:38 And yf he come in the seconde watche/ ye yf he come ī the thyrd watche/ and shall fynde them soo/ happy are thoose servauntſ. And yf he come in the seconde watche/ ye if he come in the thyrde watche/ & shall fynde them soo/ happy are those servauntes. And yf he come in the seconde watche/ ye yf he come in the thyrde watche/ and shall fynde them so/ happy are those seruauntes. And yf he come in the seconde watch, and in the thirde watch, and fynde them so, blessed are those seruauntes.
12:39 This shall ye vnderstonde/ that yff the good man of the housse/ had knowen what houre the thefe wolde have cōmen/ he wolde suerly have watched: ād not have suffered his housse to have bene broken vppe. This vnderstonde/ that yf the good man of the housse knewe what houre ye thefe wolde come/ he wolde suerly watche: and not suffer his housse to be broken vp. This vnderstonde/ that yf the good man of the housse knewe what houre the thefe wolde come/ he wolde suerly watche: and not suffer his housse to be broken vp. But be sure of this, that yf the good man of the house knewe, what houre the thefe wolde come, he wolde surely watch, and not suffre his house to be broken vp.
12:40 Be ye prepared therfore for the sonne of man will come att an houre whē ye thynke/ not. Be ye prepared therfore: for the sonne of man will come at an houre when ye thinke not. Be ye prepared therfore: for the sonne of man will come at an houre when ye thinke not. Therfore be ye ready also, for at an houre whan ye thynke not, shal the sonne of man come.
12:41 Then Peter sayd vnto hī: Master tellest thou this similitude vnto vs/ or to all men? Then Peter sayde vnto him: Master/ tellest thou this similitude vnto vs/ or to all men? Then Peter sayde vnto him: Master/ tellest thou this similitude vnto vs/ or to all men? But Peter sayde vnto him: LORDE, tellest thou this symilitude vnto vs, or to all men also?
12:42 And the lorde said: who is a faithfull stewarde/ ād a discrete/ whom his lorde shall make ruler over his housholde/ to geve them their dueti of meate/ at due season. And the Lorde sayde: If there be any faithfull servaūt and wise/ whom his Lorde shall make ruler over his housholde/ to geve them their duetie of meate at due season: And the Lorde sayde: If there be eny faythfull seruaunt and wyse/ whom his lorde shall make ruler ouer his housholde/ to geue them their duetie of meate at due season: The LORDE sayde: How greate a thinge is a faithfull and wyse stewarde, whom his lorde setteth ouer his houssholde, to geue thē their dewtye in due season?
12:43 Happy is that servaunt/ whom his master whē he cometh shall finde soo doinge. happy is that servaunt/ whom his master when he cōmeth/ shall finde soo doinge. happy is that seruaunt/ whom his master when he commeth/ shall fynde so doinge. Blessed is that seruaunt, whom his lorde (whan he cōmeth) shal fynde so doynge.
12:44 Of a trueth I saye vnto you: that he will make him rueler over all that he hathe. Of a trueth I saye vnto you: that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. Of a trueth I saye vnto you: that he will make him ruler ouer all that he hath. Verely I saye vnto you: he shal set him ouer all his goodes.
12:45 But ād if the evyll servaunt shall saye in his hert: My master wyll differre his cōmynge/ and shall begyn to smyte the servauntſ/ and maydens/ and to eate and drynke/ and to be dronken: But & yf the evyll servaunt shall saye in his hert: My master wyll differre his cōminge/ & shall beginne to smyte the servauntes/ & maydens/ and to eate and drinke/ & to be dronken: But and yf the euyll seruaūt shall saye in his hert: My master will deferre his cōminge/ and shall beginne to smyte the seruauntes & maydens & to eate and drincke & to be droncken: But yf the same seruaūt shal saye in his hert: Tush, it wil be longe or my lorde come, and shal begynne to smyte ye seruauntes and maydens, yee & to eate and drynke, & to be dronkē:
12:46 the lorde off that servaunt wyll come in a daye/ when he thynketh nott/ and att an houre when he is not ware/ ād wyll devyde hym/ and will geve him his rewarde/ with the onbelevers. the Lorde of that servaunt will come in a daye/ when he thinketh not/ and at an houre when he is not ware/ and will devyde him/ & will geve him his rewarde with the vnbelevers. the lorde of that seruaunt will come in a daye/ when he thinketh not & at an houre when he is not ware/ & will deuide him/ & will geue him his rewarde with the vnbeleuers. the same seruauntes lorde shal come in a daye whan he loketh not for him, and in an houre that he is not aware of, & shal hew him in peces, and geue him his rewarde with the vnbeleuers.
12:47 The servaunt that knowe his masters wyll/ and prepared nott him silfe/ nether did accordynge to his will/ shalbe beten with many strypes. The servaūt that knewe his masters will/ and prepared not him selfe/ nether dyd accordinge to his will/ shalbe betē with many strypes. The seruaunt that knewe his masters will/ and prepared not him selfe/ nether dyd accordinge to his will/ shalbe beten with many strypes. The seruaunt that knewe his lordes wil and prepared not himself, nether dyd acordinge to his will, shal be beaten with many strypes:
12:48 Butt he that knewe nott/ and hath committed thyngſ worthy of strypes/ shalbe beaten with feawe strypes. For vnto whom moche ys geven: off hym shalbe moche requyred. And to whom/ men moche commytt/ the moare of hym will they axe. But he that knewe not/ and yet dyd committe thinges worthy of strypes/ shalbe beaten with feawe strypes. For vnto whom moche is geven/ of him shalbe moche requyred. And to whom men moche commyt/ the moare of him will they axe. But he that knewe not/ & yet dyd cōmitte thinges worthy of strypes/ shalbe beaten with feawe strypes. For vnto whom moche is geuen/ of him shalbe moche required. And to whom men moche cōmyt/ the moare of him will they axe. But he that knewe it not, and yet dyd thinges worthy of strypes, shal be beaten with few strypes. For loke vnto whom moch is geuen, of him shal moch be sought: and loke to whom moch is commytted, of him shal moch be requyred.
12:49 I cam to sende fyre on erth: and what ys my desyre but that yt were all redy kyndled? I am come to sende fyre on erth: & what is my dysyre but that it were all redy kyndled? I am come to sende fyre on erth: and what is my desyre/ but that it were all redy kyndled? I am come to kyndle fyre vpō earth, and what wolde I rather, thē that it were kyndled allready.
12:50 Nott with stondinge I muste be baptised with a baptī. And how am I payned till it be ended? Not with stondinge I must de baptised with a baptyme: and how am I payned till it be ended? Not with stondinge I must be baptised with a baptime: & how am I payned tyll it be ended? Notwithstōdinge I must first be baptised with a baptyme, and how am I payned tyll it be ended?
12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to sende peace on erth? I tell you/ naye: but rather debate. Suppose ye that I am come to sende peace on erth? I tell you/ naye: but rather debate. 12:52 For hence forthe there shalbe five in won housse devided/ thre agaynst two/ and two agaynst thre. For frō hence forthe ther shalbe five in one housse devided/ thre agaynst two/ and two agaynst thre. For from hence forthe ther shalbe fyue in one housse deuided/ thre agaynst two/ and two agaynst thre. For from hence forth there shal be at varyaūce in one house: thre agaynst two, and two agaynst thre.
12:53 The father shalbe devided agaynst the sonne/ ād the sonne agaynst the father. The mother agaynst the doughter/ and the doughter agaynst the mother.
